(Seoul = News 1) Reporter Lee Jung-hwan = Iran's ambassador to China asked China to serve as a guarantor for the end-of-war agreement between the U.S. and Iran ahead of President Donald Trump's visit to China on the 11th (local time).
According to the Tehran Times, Iran's ambassador to China Abdoleza Rahmani Fazli said on social media X, "China and Russia are influential powers," adding, "Considering China's status in Iran and other Persian Gulf countries, China can act as a guarantor for any agreement."
China, an ally of Iran and the largest importer of Iranian oil, is cautious about deeply intervening in Middle East security issues while mediating between the United States and Iran.
President Trump will arrive in Beijing on Friday night and conduct a state visit until Saturday. Watchers say that he will demand China pressure Iran to change its attitude at the upcoming U.S.-China summit on Saturday.
"Iran has informed us that it is ready to support the Chinese president's four major initiatives to build sustainable security and joint development in the Persian Gulf region," Fazli said in another post.
Ambassador Fazli then added that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized Iran's support for President Xi Jinping's proposal during a meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
Earlier on the 6th, Minister Aragchi visited Beijing, China, and held talks with senior Chinese officials, including Minister Wang.
According to Xinhua News Agency, President Xi met with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince bin Mohammed al-Nahyan in Beijing on the 14th of last month and emphasized △ compliance with the principle of peaceful coexistence △ respect for sovereignty △ compliance with international law △ harmony between development and security as the four proposals for peace and stability in the Middle East.

China may be in a position to act as a mediator, but the real question is whether it truly intends to mediate.
I don’t know how things will unfold, but each passing day feels unbearably frustrating.
I wonder how much longer we have to be swayed by those foolish indirect talks.
