Two days after Lee Jung-hyun, chairman of the People's Power Nomination Management Committee, announced his intention to resign, he said he would serve as chairman of the mission committee again.
In a statement to the press corps on the 15th, Chairman Lee said, "I have no doubt, but I will serve as chairman of the nomination management committee again."
"Yesterday evening, party leader Jang Dong-hyuk said he would take full control over the nomination, asking them to complete the nomination innovation," he explained.
Chairman Lee said, "I think it's a demand from the party and the people to take responsibility in the current crisis," adding, "I'll take that authority as a heavy responsibility."
He emphasized, "I will also take full responsibility for the nomination results."
Earlier on the 13th, Chairman Lee expressed his intention to resign from the mission, saying that it is difficult to push for change and innovation in the nomination process.
The power of the people is having difficulty securing major regional candidates ahead of the upcoming local elections on June 3.
