It turns out that Yangju City Hall has poorly handled the case judgment when 3-year-old Dahyun reported her first suspected child abuse and is refusing to submit data from the National Assembly's office.
Yangju City did not conduct any special investigation for nearly two months even after receiving a report of child abuse from Dahyun's family from the police on December 28 last year. After belatedly calling his biological father and Dahyun to the city hall for investigation, he judged the case as disciplinary, not abuse, and ended it as a "general case." However, according to the prosecution's investigation, even at the time of the first report, a new situation has been detected in which the biological father hit Dahyun's head against the wall and hit her with a filial son.
Later, several lawmakers' offices asked the city to submit related data on what kind of investigation it conducted at the time. However, the city refuses because "the child abuse investigation is private." The Ministry of Health and Welfare also sent an official letter to the effect that "it should be disclosed to the National Assembly," but the city has not changed its position.
As a result of JTBC's report, it was confirmed that when Dahyun's case began to be known through the media, Yangju City's family children department manager visited the National Assembly in person and explained that it was difficult to submit the data. At the meeting, the manager said, "The media coverage, including JTBC, was no joke," and it was confirmed that he said, "Now the coverage has been quiet, but when the data is released, we are rushing again."
At the same time, he expressed dissatisfaction with the media reports, saying, "It's not something we said, but nonsense is expanded and reproduced." He also refused to provide the data again, saying, "I don't think it deserves suspicion."
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Welfare decided to visit Yangju City in person soon to conduct an on-site inspection to see if the investigation was conducted properly at the time. In particular, it plans to focus on whether the officials in charge conducted a timely home visit investigation on his biological father and Dahyun.
