Der grĂźne Zipfelfalter ist ein Tagfalter aus der Familie der Bläulinge (Lycaenidae). Als ersten Bläuling im FrĂźhling kann ich ihn unter gĂźnstigen Bedingungen schon Ende März entdecken. Seine optische Erscheinung lässt keine Verwechslung mit einem anderen Schmetterling zu. Seine Smaragd grĂźne Farbe ist einzigartig. Den Falter kann man von Ende März bis in den Sommer beobachten. Finden kann ich ihn auf Trockenrasen entlang von Main und der Tauber. Er fliegt in einer Generation und ist noch regelmäĂig anzutreffen.
The green hairstreak is a butterfly from the family of Lycaenidae. As the first blue butterfly in spring, I can discover it already at the end of March under favourable conditions. Its optical appearance does not allow any confusion with another butterfly. Its emerald green colour is unique. The butterfly can be observed from the end of March until summer. I can find it on dry grasslands along the Main and the Tauber. It flies in one generation and can still be found regularly.

Faszinierend, das nur ca. 0,5 Millimeter kleine Ei trägt schon die Smaragd-grßne Farbe des Falters. Bei meiner nachfolgenden Aufnahme hat das Weibchen sein Ei an SonnenrÜschen abgelegt. Die frisst an vielen weiteren Pflanzen und stellt keine besonderen Ansprßche an ihre Futterpflanze. Ich hatte versucht, den Falter zu zßchten, leider ohne Erfolg, da aus dem Ei keine Raupe schlßpfte.
Fascinating, the egg, which is only about 0.5 millimetres small, already bears the emerald green colour of the butterfly. In my following photo the female has laid her egg on sunflower. It feeds on many other plants and does not make any special demands on its fodder plant. I had tried to breed the butterfly, unfortunately without success, because no caterpillar hatched from the egg.

Der grĂźne Zipfelfalter scheint eine Vorliebe fĂźr Wacholder zu besitzen. Sehr häufig kann ich ihn dort fotografieren. Es gibt eine Stelle im Taubertal, an der die ich Ende März, immer zuerst nach dem Falter Ausschau halte. Meistens habe ich GlĂźck und kann dort das erste Exemplar entdecken. In diesem Jahr war ich des Ăfteren vergeblich auf der Suche. Am 15. April war es aber so weit und gleich mehrere Exemplare kreuzten meinen Weg.
The green hairstreak seems to have a preference for junipers. Very often I can photograph him there. There is a place in the Tauber valley where I always look for the butterfly at the end of March. Most of the time I am lucky and can discover the first specimen there. In this year I was often in vain on the search. But on April 15th it was so far and several specimens crossed my path.
