Life is full of surprises and serendipitous moments. During those unexpected times, when you don't plan nor look for love, that's when fate smiles back, gives you that twist of adventure, and all you can do is bravely ride the feeling, enjoy yourself, and be carefree, not thinking about what's going to happen next.
Noel's Story
It was one of those unexpected moments, that's how I will describe the first time I met Redford. He was just standing in one of the corners of the bar I usually frequent. He looked absolutely charming. I said "hi", and he responded with a smile. I felt it was a bit awkward to approach him but I mustered enough courage to introduce myself. I was scared that he would say "No", but instead he returned my greeting with his. I remember asking him to dance. He said he was too shy, so we ended up staying on our table drinking while watching the rest dancing. It was one of those crazy evenings, and I wished for it not to end. We spent the entire night together, until the very morning where I asked him to go with me to the market to buy food. I can't remember what went on my head, but I didn't really care. We had our first date in a market. It was funny and crazy. But we both had so much fun. I must admit I was attracted to him, and I can also feel that he feels the same way.
We went on several dates after, and on January 1st, year 2010, we both said yes to being together.
Redford's Story
This was what it was like when I first met Noel. I just came from a really bad break up, and it took me long to even come out of my shell. I remember finding myself going out for the first time, and I was not intending to even meet anyone. But there he was at the corner of the bar looking at me, and he was smiling. He has the cutest smile, so I smiled back. He approached my table, introduced himself, and asked if he can join me. I didn't want to be alone, so I said Yes. I remember having such a great time with him that night. Do you remember that feeling when you didn't want things to end? That was what it felt like that very moment, so we spent the night together, not even noticing that the sun was already up. That very same morning, he asked me to go on a breakfast date with him, our very first date, and it was at the market. It's funny, and crazy. We were both feeling happy, and we didn't really care where we were. We were having so much fun. I must admit I was attracted to him, and I know he was attracted to me too.
So we went on several more dates after, until that new years eve, on January 1st, year 2010, we both said yes to being together.
Our Relationship
To be honest, we were both scared. Most gay relationship don't last long, and we too thought that our relationship wouldn't last. We had our share of fights and break-ups, but both of us would not want to give up. He is not perfect, and so am I, but we have learned to forgive each other, and to trust each other more. Over the years, we have learned to discover that love has its ups and downs too, but for as long as you're both willing to forgive each other's faults, and be funny about it - oh yeah, humor is a magic ingredient - and you built your relationship on friendship and trust, then you can survive the test of time.
Redford and I are now living together with our furbabies, Sandy and Baxter. We are not a perfect family, but we are filled with love, trust and hope. He is my family, and I am his. And when the going gets tough i know that we will both hold each other's hand as we face the future.
Cheers to 10 years and more of love!
