Merry Christmas Steemians!
A few days ago, 2 days to be exact, I posted about seeking aid for the survivors of topical storm Vinta.
The state of Macasandig evacuation center.
When the post went up, there was an outpouring of love and support from people in the Steemit community. Part of which is a great donation from the community through the efforts of my good friend
.
We immediately sprung into action and we tapped my social outreach group Kuya Fish Campaign and approached the Macasandig Barangay council and asked what their needs are.
The barangay said that they were planning to give Christmas dinner to those in the center to at least make them happy during the Christmas Eve. They also specified the need for toiletries and othe foodstuff.
Donations are coming in from everywhere, but there are almost 2,600 individuals in the center. These donations come and go fairly quickly.
The data from the barangay.
So the group decided to add to the food for the center’s Christmas dinner and provide toiletries and some Christmas treats for the kids.
We bought 50+ kilos of spaghetti and 40+ pieces of chicken for the Christmas noche buena.
We also bought toiletries, cleaning materials like pails and brushes, some towels for some families in the badly hit areas. We also bought treats for the kids!
Volunteers packing.
We then turned over the food to the Macasandig barangay hall volunteers so they can prepare them for the Christmas feast!
Chicken!!
The group then gave out the treats and toiletries to kids and mothers.
We can still do more. There are other centers we can help, and there are projects that can help rebuild their homes and their lives. The proceeds of this post and other posts about Vinta will continue to fund said projects and outreach activities. You can also donate to for you to help make projects like this possible! We accomplished so much in one day. With your help, we know we can accomplish more.
We would like to thank your generosity and help. Special shoutout to and
! Thank you for giving the people of Macasandig a happier Christmas!
