All right, listen up recruits! Today we're NOT gonna be doing any drills, I assume you know that already.
Today I, Sergeant Grumps, will impart my wisdom to each and every one of you sorry rookies about one of the greatest enemy of mankind, and its name is procrastination!
Now don't go asking about not knowing what it is, if you don't know the meaning of the word, I suggest you go look it up on the internet or something!
All right onto the matter at hand! If you want to make it big in this world, you have got to work hard and smart everyday soldier! I notice some of you like to laze around doing nothing, well I'm here to say it all stops now!
Now I've been here in this world long enough for you to call me your father, and I would just like to share with you some strategies and ways to combat procrastination, so listen up soldier and listen good coz I'm only gonna say it once!
There is no perfect moment
As you and I both know, there is no perfect moment to doing something! Whether it's having the balls to ask a girl out on a date or starting your own blog, there is no perfect time than right now to do it!
As your sergeant, I strongly advise you to get your sorry ass off the ground and start getting your feet wet!
Waiting for the perfect moment to start your work or tasks is like waiting for the moon to turn pink, we all know it's never gonna happen!
So quit wasting your time on waiting but rather use the time to start doing!
Use your time wisely
Recruits, I'm gonna share with you what my grandfather used to say to me way back before I joined the Army:
"Time is non-refundable, use it with intention"
If you still didn't get the message behind that, damn it, it means quit wasting your time!
Be conscious of how you use your time! Whether you're Chinese or American or a Martian, we only have 24 hours in a day so you better make it count boy! Make sure you get your priorities done first before engaging in leisure activities!
Now don't go whining about saying that you don't have the time! We always have time, it's just a matter of balancing our time and priorities!
As an old-timer like me, you'll never see me wasting my time on Facebook or Youtube! I prefer to use my time efficiently and effectively! Hell, I'd rather do 500 push-ups than go online!
Although a colleague of mine introduced me to a new social media called Steemit. Maybe I should try it... but anyway, let's continue on with our discussion!
Don't get overwhelmed
All right men! From my experience, I know the reason why a lot of people procrastinate is they feel overwhelmed with the task at hand! They feel the work to be done is insurmountable!
Well, let me first tell you a little story of mine! Have I mentioned to you before that I used to have a lover named Maria?
Man oh man, Maria! She was a beautiful and popular lady in school I tell you! But you know what, out of all the boys in the class, I was the one who stole her heart! You wanna know how I did it?
Well, I courted her slowly, I gave her love letters, showered her with compliments every time I see her! I befriended her friends to get close to her! And when she was comfortable with me already, that's when I asked her to be my girlfriend!
What I'm trying to get here is that doing a task is a lot like courting a woman! You do your work gradually and strategically, chunk it down and break the task into smaller parts! That way, it's easier to get your work done soldier!
Alright, recruits! I'm done talking! I hope you've gained some knowledge from my talk! You are all dismissed! Now off to the field rookies!
