Near death experiences (NDE) are very intriguing, so much so that there are loads of books written on this topic. I have read a few myself. I am as interested as the next person in reading, listening or watching people recount their personal account of momentarily going to toward the other side, of going into the white light.
Accounts of NDEs seem to give the audience as much comfort as the actual person who describes his/her experiences as a profound epiphany. What I have found is that while there are many common similarities of people's journeying through the light or leaving the body and floating above the ceiling, there are on the other hand lots of personal differences.
Eben Alexander, M.D a neurosurgeon wrote a book "Proof of Heaven" about his NDE while in a coma for seven days. It was published in 2012. I found the book in a bookshop in Melbourne and the words on the back cover "....a moving account of facing death, and a compelling case for rate survival of consciousness beyond the demise of the body" were enough for me to want to read this book, so I bought it. While his physical body was totally under the control of a terrible bacteria his spirit or soul was we over the Other Side having the most surreal experiences. Here is a doctor, who is a science based man experiencing a NDE. It is up to the readers to decide whether it feels right for them, whether it fits their perception or not of the after life. There are medical colleagues who have been most critical and unbelieving of his story stating that his experiences were due to his brain state etc.
Another NDE account that had an impact on me was one I watched on a TV show one afternoon. I do not normally watch daytime TV but on this day it was on and my ears pricked up when the them of this show was NDEs so I continued to sit in my chair, it had my attention! This particularly story was shared by a middle aged man:
To me there are NDEs, experienced by so many people, confirming that there is a greater universal force, a connectedness and oneness to a universal Divinity, to a bigger picture that we humans are part of. I have not had a NDE, I can only read and listen to others, all part of my own journey of growing self-awareness. I believe in life after death.

Happiness guys.
Cheers
