HELLO!
My dear fellow steemians, today I shall tell you these amazing remedies of hiccup that should actually help you a lot.
We all have come across hiccups and it might sometimes get really bothering, embarrassing and uncomfortable . It might as well cause hindrance to your daily activities. That actually is a torture.
WHY DO WE GET HICCUPS?
Hiccups unlike most people believe are not caused due to alcohol overuse. It actually is a result of reflex action that might be set off due to excitement, overeating, drinking carbonated beverages, or swallowing air and even abrupt changes in the temperature. This may be because the stomach, which is situated right below the diaphragm, becomes distended and irritates the nerve supplying the diaphragm. This will cause the diaphragm to contract, as it does when we breathe in. It might also be because of a disturbance to the nerve pathways from the brain to the muscles involved.
HOW TO GET RID OF THEM?
Hyperventilate
Inhale and exhale once a second for two minutes.Take three to five of the deepest breaths you can.
Repeat three or four times. Then repeat 20 minutes later.
Bring the knees to the chest and hug them for 2 minutes. This will compress you diaphragm and slowly relieve you from hiccups.
Gargle with iced water or sip very cold water slowly.
Drink a glass of warm water very slowly, all the way down without breathing.
Blow on your thumb as if you were blowing up a balloon.
Plug your ears (so sound is partially blocked), take a deep breath and swallow 3-6 times straight, without taking a breath between swallows.
Place some granulated sugar on the tongue. When it melts, swallow it.
Pinch the back of your shoulder until it hurts.
Take a thin slice of lemon, place it on the tongue and suck it like a sweet.
Breathe slowly and deeply into a paper bag.
This will help because of the increasing carbon dioxide level inside the paper bag that will cause the diaphragm to contract more intensely.
