This weekend I celebrated my 21st birthday with my parents, grandpa and girlfriend. I knew my parents were visiting, but when I saw my grandpa at the door, it shocked me. He lives in Arizona and usually flights to the East coast can get expensive. So it was great to see him again and spend most of my weekend with my family.
Friday, I worked 9-5 but after that we went out to dinner. I started off light and ordered a locally brewed Pale Ale. It was funny for the bartender to ask for my ID because I do not look my age. But I got my beer, we ate, then went to a brewery down the street. There, I tried a stout, Imperial stout, and some bourbon. My dad is very fond of darker beers, so that's why I was drinking a lot stronger stuff because he knew more about them. I loved them all though.
I didn't go out with any of my friends because I'm the first to be 21. What's even better is I know my roommates don't like the darker beers, so I don't have to worry about any of them taking them or me having to share.
Saturday, we took a trip to Ikea so I could get shelves for my speakers, a table for my record player, and a table for the living room to keep all of our plants on. We went to another brewery that day and got lunch there as well. This place was cool. The first floor was a beer shop. So walls were stacked with everything you could think of. Upstairs was the bar and coffee shop. I tried an unfiltered lager from Belgium. It was delicious. Wasn't too heavy and very flavorful. I also picked up a 4-pack of "Dino Smores" by Off Color Brewing. Haven't tried it yet, but the bartender said it's really good.
