Ice plant, Delosperma cooperi, is a rugged ground cover native to South Africa.
It's used in California for roadside plantings because they are so drought tolerant. It’s happy in USDA Plant Zone 7 - 9. Plant in full sun in a perennial border preferably in the front as it it gets up to 12- 15 inches.
This is a beauty that flowers all through the summer in a unique way. It folds up at night and opens in the daylight.
