I know I have not done an update on the small house in a while. We have been putting on mud and tape and it is slow since it takes time to dry, we have been busy trying to get things around for our garden this year also. It is like I am in overdrive and no signs of slowing down. Here is something we did and it took quite a while to do as it is slow going. Here is what the ceiling looked like before our improvements.
It was the typical mobile home ceiling, it had the trim pieces over the joints, also those little star things with the square head screws that were used to hold the sheetrock up. There were also holes in the ceiling where the wire came down for the lights. We took all of that down and replaced the stars with a sheetrock screw and we pulled the trim pieces down and put mud and tape on the joints. We wanted to retexture the ceiling because of mud and tape on the joints and the screw heads messed up the old texture. This is after we retextured the ceiling, we will have to paint it but it is 100% better looking.
This is a lot of work because you mix joint compound with water to thin it down and then use a texture roller to roll on the joint compound. This room is 10x14 and it took me three hours to do this. It is a much nicer look and I think it is much better than trying to find the trim pieces to replace the cut and broke pieces. I think next time I will make the joint compound a little thinner so it will go faster. It is supposed to be the consistency of pancake batter and I had it a little thicker than that. As we go along in this remodel we are learning a lot and some of it will come in handy when we start the AirCrete houses. Hope everyone has a good night/day, whatever it is in your neck of the woods. Thanks for spending some of your time reading our posts.
