I really enjoyed reading your opinions on society. Although I do not completely agree with them. I cannot speak for your experiences, but the schools (and the university i'm currently at) encourages me to think critically about the things around me. School enhanced my way of thinking, it didn't make me more subservient. But I do agree that some schools may place a greater focus on the authority of teachers and not the student's learning.

I 100% agree with you on societal norms and the pressure they can bring to bear on us all!
