Worry Less
"I don't think it's terribly constructive to spend your time worrying about things you can't fix. As long as when you are managing your money you recognize that a terrible thing is going to happen, in the rest of your life you can be a foolish optimist." - Charlie Munger
In the world of finance, something bad happens on average every 8-10 years. This is something we have to prepare for, as it in apart of our system of high leverage money that will always over extend at points.
As for everything else, Charlie Munger says you should be a foolish optimist. That is because mostly everything else cannot be changed and whatever happens will happen. Like prostate cancer, at some point all men can have it so why worry your whole life about having it. You will either get it or you won't. Same goes for earthquakes in California, there should be one soon that can destruct that entire state. Why worry each day when we have no idea when or if that will happen in our lifetime.
This is the way we need to move forward in our life because it is the only way we will positively progress. If we put focus on what could go wrong in any area of life, we may just get stuck on that topic and let fear rule our world.
This applies to loss in life, as money or family it has it's same aspects. We cannot sit around and be sad for our whole lives with something that naturally happens to us all. We must be open and happy in the process of our journey and everybody's around us.
Once we do this, we will move forward with commitment and confidence, to do what we set out to do. When we stay in our positive happy states, we will see all the beauty in our life and "downfalls".
