I couldn't believe my eyes when I went shopping last night. There they were on the shelves... on the 3rd of January!!!
Hot Cross Buns in JANUARY!!! JANUARY FFS!! Easter is 3 months away. Do we really need HCBs in January?
Traditionally Hot Cross Buns are a special treat eaten at Easter time, and have a certain meaning.
From Wikipedia
A hot cross bun is a spiced sweet bun made with currants or raisins, marked with a cross on the top, and traditionally eaten on Good Friday in the British Isles, Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa and some parts of America.
With shops putting these buns out 3 months early it seems a lot if the meaning behind our holidays is overshadowed by the commercial interests of the shops.
Are they trying to make us lose our Christmas cheer already?!?
It's like playing Christmas songs in September...
This just does my head in!!
