Today, I'm reviewing an American - IPA called Northsea IPA (also called as Mooie Nel IPA) from the brewery Jopen. Hops in this beer: citra, simcoe and cascade hops. Malts: unfortunately, I didn't find any information about that.
This is a new brewery for me, so it's gonna be interesting!
Jopen Brewery is a Dutch brewery from Haarlem, that was founded in 1992. Jopen didn't have an own brewery until 2010, but they used facilities of other breweries.
The name Jopen is derived from the 112 liter barrels in which the Haarlem beer used to be transported.
They have used two recipes that was found in the Haarlem city archive. The first one was a recipe from 1407, the recreation of this was named Koyt, a gruit beer. The second one dates from year 1501 and was named Hoppenbier.
