You know... Sometimes I wonder about the steeemit ecosystem. When I signed up last year I saw all the information and adverts of how old members and the system are supposed to support minnows. I got plenty of advice from friends but eventually had to learn a lot of hard lessons myself.
Actually I don't know what it used to be when it all started. But from what has happened to me so far and what I see, nobody really cares about minnows. If you have plenty friends who are already on steemit or few friends who have climbed up the reputation ladder or have high SP then you may not find it so hard. There isn't any real structure that guides and supports minnows to let them know whether they are getting it right or whether they grow or not. Don't get me wrong, if you ask questions, some people are willing to answer and on few occasions lend a helping hand. A lot of times you spend time trying to create something original. Spend time to tweak it. Sometimes you may have take photos yourself if that will be more original so you don't go for the easier Google generated images which maybe copyright protected. But generally a lot of big players would seize every opportunity to make you look even smaller than you already are. Some would give good comments on your post but instead of upvoting your post, they would upvote their comments and when you look at the upvote, you can see how enormous their SP is. Some would comment negatively by verbally attacking you or calling your post a ton of rubbish. If you post something about your religion, some other dude would find enough time to read it all up and tell you how stupid it is. In fact, these days, it kinda seems that posting about religion is seriously frowned at. I wonder why. To me, religion is part of life. I don't see why I should be hated and downvoted for that.
