Monsanto was recently bought by the Bayer pharmaceutical company for $66 Billion.
Pharmaceuticals and GMOs, what a lovely combination!
Read more about the buy out of Monsanto here.
I feel that it is important that we take a look at what Monsanto was working on in the past, to even start to grasp what it could be developing for the future!
What Is Monsanto?
"Monsanto is a multinational agricultural biotechnology corporation based in the United States."
Monsanto produces the most Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) on the planet, up to 90% of GMO seeds planted in 2003.
Monsanto also creates pesticides specifically engineered for their crops.
The History Of Monsanto
In 1901 Monsanto was founded by John Francis Queeny, a veteran in wholesale pharmaceutical production & distribution. Queeny was married to Olga Mendez Monsanto for whom Monsanto Chemical Works was named.
Monsanto's first product was saccharin, an artificial sweetener that was sold to Coca-Cola. The government at the time sued Monsanto because saccharin is toxic and unsafe, but unfortunately lost in court. Monsanto continued to poison the world through saccharin and soft drinks!
- "1930s: Created its first hybrid seed corn and expands into detergents, soaps, industrial cleaning products, synthetic rubbers and plastics. Oh yes, all toxic of course!"
- "1940s: They begin research on uranium to be used for the Manhattan Project’s first atomic bomb, which would later be dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, killing hundreds of thousands of Japanese, Korean and US Military servicemen and poisoning millions more."
- "1960s: Monsanto, along with chemical partner-in-crime DOW Chemical, produces dioxin-laced Agent Orange for use in the U.S.’s Vietnam invasion. The results? Over 3 million people contaminated, a half-million Vietnamese civilians dead, a half-million Vietnamese babies born with birth defects and thousands of U.S. military veterans suffering or dying from its effects to this day!"
- "Monsanto partners with I.G. Farben, makers of Bayer aspirin and the Third Reich’s go-to chemical manufacturer producing deadly Zyklon-B gas during World War II."
- "1990s: Monsanto spends millions defeating state and federal legislation that disallows the corporation from continuing to dump dioxins, pesticides and other cancer-causing poisons into drinking water systems. Regardless, they are sued countless times for causing disease in their plant workers, the people in surrounding areas and birth defects in babies."
- "Thanks to the FDA, Congress and White House, business remains very good. So good that Monsanto is sued for giving radioactive iron to 829 pregnant women for a study to see what would happen to them."
What Is Regulatory Capture & Why Is It So Important?
According to Wikipedia "Regulatory capture is a form of government failure that occurs when a regulatory agency, created to act in the public interest, instead advances the commercial or political concerns of special interest groups that dominate the industry or sector it is charged with regulating."
This is corruption at it's core, when a corporation owns the body which is supposed to regulate it, there is no telling what cut-backs and dangerous decisions have and will be made.
Do we want to live in a world where corporations are choosing what is safe for us to consume, I do not!
The Curse Of Regulatory Capture:
The FDA's mission: "The Food and Drug Administration is responsible for protecting the public health by ensuring the safety, efficacy, and security of human and veterinary drugs, biological products, and medical devices; and by ensuring the safety of our nation's food supply, cosmetics, and products that emit radiation."
The theory is that if a corporation does something that isn't in the public's interest the FDA follows it's mission and does not approve it.
Global Research tells us that "Amidst all the death and disease, FDA’s Arthur Hull resigns under a cloud of corruption and is immediately hired by Searle’s public relations firm as a senior scientific consultant. No, that’s not a joke! Monsanto, the FDA and many government health regulatory agencies have become one and the same! It seems the only prerequisite for becoming an FDA commissioner is that they spend time at either Monsanto or one of the pharmaceutical cartel’s organized crime corps."
But alas, the FDA is working alongside Monsanto, we have reached a point of regulatory capture. We would hope the FDA would have something to say about this!
The Dangers Of Monsanto's Herbicide Resistant GMOs!
One of Monsanto's most prolific products, is Roundoup Ready Soybeans.
Demo Science tells us that "Roundup Ready crops are crops genetically modified to be resistant to the herbicide Roundup. Roundup is the brand-name of a herbicide produced by Monsanto. Its active ingredient glyphosate was patented in the 1970s."
Organic Consumers informs us that "Eager to sell more of its flagship herbicide, Monsanto also encouraged farmers to use Roundup as a dessicant, to dry out all of their crops so they could harvest them faster. So Roundup is now routinely sprayed directly on a host of non-GMO crops, including wheat, barley, oats, canola, flax, peas, lentils, soybeans, dry beans and sugar cane."
Glyphosate And Associated Health Impacts
According to Eco Watch glyphosate is associated with numerous negative health impacts, including but not limited to:
- ADHD
- Alzheimer’s disease
- Autism
- Birth defects
- Brain cancer
- Breast cancer
- Cancer
- Colitis
- Diabetes
- Heart disease
- Liver disease
- Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
- Pregnancy problems (infertility, miscarriages, stillbirths)
- Reproductive problems
- Respiratory illnesses
A study in Mississippi in 2007 showed outrageous amounts of glyphosate and other herbicides in the atmosphere. NCBI tells us that "Glyphosate and its degradation product, aminomethyl-phosphonic acid (AMPA), were detected in ≥75% of air and rain samples in 2007"
This is scary, herbicides adverse effects seem to correlate to those of vaccines!
Where Do We Go From Here?
The world is not in ruin yet! We need to start saving our own organic seeds, stand up to our corporate overlords while starting the steps to traditional farming. I believe we are engaged in a serious fight for survival and I will be writing further about this subject. I would appreciate any feedback and thoughts on this topic.
