A grand example of mystical phenomena is Herbie Hancock's perplexing 1974 masterpiece "Thrust". In particular track number 2 on the album "Actual Proof". Legend has it that Herbie and his band members separated into secluded rooms and spent some time in meditation. A few hours later they reunited in the studio and laid down this masterpiece in one take, no overdubs. Herbie decided to call the piece "Actual proof" demonstrating the real world affects of Nichiren meditation on their collective creativity. If you listen to the piece you can hear mysterious alien frequencies, rhythmic coincidences and harmonic color never before or since experienced. Actual proof stands alone as its own genre.. To me this track is a revelation and has influenced great personal power in my life. Actual proof is a reminder that originality is always up there waiting for us to grab ahold and pull it down harder than a motherfucka!
