What is man, predation or predator? The chemical has been discovered by which the status of nature can be determined. What makes people different
The smell of a chemical found in the blood of mammals is irresistible to predator species, but causes a completely different reaction in the case of animals that are hunted.
Researchers have discovered that E2D, a molecular compound in the blood of animals, lures wild wolves, tigers and dogs, while species representing prey associate it with danger and death. According to Science Alert, while the smell of different species is made up of different chemicals, researchers claim that E2D causes a different response to species behaviors.
'' The discovery is unique, being the first demonstration of a single chemical with a dual function of both near and avoidance information in the relationship between predation and predator, '' says psychologist Artin Arshamian of Radboud University in the Netherlands. "But it is important that it is the first chemical signal that affects people and animals," added the specialist.
E2D is formed when blood fats begin to decompose because of exposure to air. If there are no open wounds, the signal does not appear. In the research, the team also noticed the same effects when using blood. In order to get another perspective, chemicals and animals representing prey were exposed. When exposed to the substance mice, the animals showed a fighting behavior and tried to avoid smell. During human tests, they had a tendency to withdraw when the substance was pumped to their face. The gesture was interpreted as an adversary. "People are able to detect E2D at a lower concentration than one part per trillion," said one of the zoologists, Matthias Laska of Linkoping University (Sweden).
The only difference between humans and other predators is that people have become much more dangerous today.
