In my #introduceyourself I already told you I am a volunteer rescuer https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@crypto.owl/hi-everybody-i-am-teresa-and-i-am-so-excited-about-steemit. In Russia if too many people get lost Ministry of Emergency Situations can ask volunteers for help. Actually they often does. This is how volunteers look like.
So at 8:47 PM coordinator Elena called me saying that about 20 people got lost right now or just a few hours earlier and we had to do a lot…
Ok, as far as you remember I drive UAZ Hunter (it is Russian jeep, a car for real men and strong women), so I can be a driver and a rescuer both.
Me and two other rescuers headed to Tosnensky district (a part of our region) where too many people got lost at the same time. While we were driving more and more people were calling 112 (112 is Russian 911) saying that their relatives went to pick up mushrooms and berries and got lost. So coordinator stopped us and asked to wait a little, she just needed few minutes more to decide who needs us more.
A little later we were given the point to go. But people continued calling…
So when we were near the point and ready to do the work as a second rescue group (the first one with the dog was already there) a new call was received… So we changed the destination a little and headed to Novolisino a small town in Tosnensky district.
We were the first rescue group so we met relatives of the lost man first. There is their house. I won’t show you their faces sorry - I don’t have a permission.
An old man 80 yrs old a little deaf and lame after a surgery on the hip. Whose wife died just three months ago. So he went to forest to pick up mushrooms without a cell phone. Situation is not good at all. So we started immediately.
First we had to limit the area of searching and decide where to go first. And then we started.
We covered 9.3 kilometers through forest and an old railway. Calling for the lost man very loud and hearing for answer very attentively. It took us all night and the early morning until rescuers from Ministry of Emergency changed us.
Usually it takes 2-3 or even four days to find a person lost in forest. Unfortunately that man is still missing. And still rescuers (volunteers and from Ministry both) are searching for him.
P.S. And while packing back to go home we met an extremely friendly cat who lives near.
