Out of the fruits that I had already eaten out there the Cantaloupe is one of my favorites to eat. It is not sweet but is just right although sometimes I would like to dip it with some sugar. It is not soft but not too soft that it is almost like water or mushy, just right for my mouth to crush without much effort at all because most of my chewing effort involves my tongue and my palate and the raised part of my lower gums which my front incisor teeth are striking. So I just wanted soft foods all the time.
That is why I am just craving for it right now although I could not have much of it because for one thing I would create gasses and risk me of having a gas pain plus fruits may it be a local or an imported fruits are quite expensive these days so having them everyday would indeed make a big hole in your pockets.
Cantaloupes here in my place is just about $2 Dollars each which is why I am always apprehensive in buying some but sometimes I would like some so even though it is just a pocket-burner I would ask mother to buy me some for us to eat. We always pass-by the big fruit stand where they sell such fruits so maybe at my dialysis I would buy some God-willing if it would still be available.
If only I could have fruits everyday I would do it because it is the kind of food groups that I have no trouble of eating unlike the dishes that my mother prepares where more often than not I am having trouble in even trying to swallow the first bite, my mother never really learns how to cook as she cooks and expects a different result.
But I myself had learned cooking from my mother, she also was the one who had taught me on how to cook rice and after sometime I developed my own to ensure a very well-cooked rice that is fluffy and soft. Cooking is a different kind of skill, only those that seek a specific result will find success in cooking. You just have to observe a proper technique in order for you to be successful in cooking which I myself had also developed over the course of careful observation and cooking years because it does takes time until you do perfect your talent in cooking.
I am also craving for some other local fruits like the star apple and the anonas which is rarely sold in the markets. The star apple has a problem when it comes to its transportation because it gets easily ruined due to its soft skin which can get easily bruised and mashed while the Anonas is really rarely cultivated, same as the Star Apple which kind of makes me sad because I do like both of those fruits.
When you eat the star apple it makes your lips get covered in sap because of the fruit's skin but what you are after was its gel-covered seeds and the soft custardy inside part. It is just pleasant to eat even though you will get some sap on your lips, it is worth it to have some.
The bad thing about this fruit is sometimes it is pestered with fruit fly larva so you are just lucky if you would find some which does not have little holes in it which is a sign of a fruit fly infestation. But I would like to have some of these fruits if i would ever come across it in the future if I ever will because times are changing and the trees that bear these fruits are either cut down to give way for housing or are just totally ignored and not given attention anymore like cultivating them for selling because of the said factors.
Anyway, there are many other fruits that I liked out there like the Cantaloupe, at least for now I could afford a bit of it and it is still available (I hope) if we get to pass by the fruit stand in my next dialysis session so I just hope that I would never forget to get me some before its season ends.
