A dialyzer is the blood filter that we dialysis patients use for cleaning out the blood. It is where the extra fluids, toxins, vitamins, minerals, and protein compounds pass through because of the negative pressure from the dialysis machine does along with bathing it with dialysate where those toxins and nutrients goes along with to get carried out to the drain.
I use a type of highflux dialyzer which has a filter membrane that has bigger holes that efficiently cleans out my blood because I can really feel the clean quality that it brings to me as I do not get that ammonia breath that easily anymore unlike in my former years as a dialysis patient. So I am just happy even though I was not using it at start of my dialysis years which is just a sad thing for me at least now I am getting a relatively clean blood after my session.
Now I was experiencing a blood pressure crash everytime I would change my dialyzer every end of the month. It is because the membranes of the dialyzer are in pristine condition which is why it really cleans out the blood well compared to later re-use.
So because I will be taking my Caffeine pill plus my energy drinks for that matter I will be just observing tomorrow how it will go if I would crash my BP or not because of the new dialyzer use. But I will make sure that my blood pressure will remain stable because of the blood pressure-raising effects of the Caffeine pill. I will just take one pill at the start of my session and then one pill after two hours of being hooked-up. It should be interesting to see what will happen.
The last dialysis session that I had made my BP go so low that it just gave me a discomfort, usually some pain in my neck which only got alleviated after my blood got returned at the end of the treatment. I do not want that to happen anymore so I just have to make sure that I have some considerable amount of Caffeine circulating in my system just to stabilize my blood pressure.
I am just confident that my BP would remain relatively better and it should because of the said reasons above. But the factor about using a new dialyzer was it draws more fluids that it is set to do which would be a factor in lowering down my BP since I think I have seen the "floor" levels where enough water is taken out already from my body.
So I have to take that into consideration when telling my nurses how much water that they will have to draw out tomorrow God-willing. So I pray that everything should go without a fuss because I am just having two times dialysis per week and I have to complete my session for me to feel better in-between dialysis days.
