If you were born with profitable traits, into the right family (socially wealthy) then your odds of becoming financially independent are higher. Fact is all of that is just pure luck.
The family we are born into, the social wealth we are born with, the genetic advantages we are born with, are just pure luck. The profitable traits which we are born with (including determination and willingness to work hard), are from winning the genetic lottery or being born at the right time, to the right family, etc.
Those of us who are successful in my opinion have to realize luck plays a major role in our success. It doesn't matter if it's because of our intellect, or athleticism, or because we are pretty, or tall, it's all gifts, all luck. Of course luck alone doesn't make someone successful (a person has to leverage and develop whatever they have to try to get more).
My point is, it makes little sense to blame the less fortunate for being less fortunate. Just like the fortunate in my opinion should not ignore the role of luck.
