A story from my years as being an operator. Oh yes, there are stories I can tell.
One time a customer called in and was frantic. "Help, I need the number of the Post Office," says the customer after introductory pleasantries. "I just found out that when I went to my bank I had my mail in my hands. I thought I was holding my check book with some checks to deposit. I must have thrown my check book and checks in the mail box." I said, "Yes, ma'am I'll get you that number right away."
I always try to learn from my past customers. So when I go to the Post Office or Post Box, I always make sure only mail is in my hands. No keys, check book, money or any other thing. I only hold mail in my hands when I put it in the box. This is not the time to multitask.
Maybe I'll come up with more operator stories in the future.
