I have a feeling that we're about to become human guinea pigs here. I don't want to scare myself or everyone else but someone policing us to get unsafely vaccinated out of desperation to save the nation is not far from reality. And there's nowhere else to go. The inobedient will be punished and innocent people will be killed. Politics has been killing us the whole time more than anything else.
It seems that one way to bring a glimmer of hope these days is to reassure someone that there's already a vaccine on the way. I don't know about you guys but that seems to be the case for me. Whenever I express my sentiments and worries about COVID-19, the answer would be, "don't worry, there's already a vaccine on the way". The 2020 way to respond. Sunshine spewer's alternative to "you're fine", "could be worse", "just look at the bright side". Sure, there's nothing wrong about being positive, hopeful, and all in these pandemic times, but to bring false hope to anyone is quite a madness in my opinion. Because we never really like to face the ugly reality of things. We don't really want to believe that there's a bad guy out there.
I don't claim to be an expert on vaccines and to be honest, I don't really know much about it. Don't get me wrong though, I'm not one of those crazy anti-vaxxers. I had been vaccinated way too many times for all I know. I just have some doubts about pretty much anything happening nowadays.
Then just recently, someone who is also not an expert on things told me that there's already a vaccine coming from Russia. And that we are about to become human guinea pigs soon. Because what can desperate and uninformed masses can do in these uncertain times? Like, oh my Gawd, should I feel hopeful or worried? Like, how can someone easily believe something coming from an unreliable source? And I am pretty sure that if this vaccine is legit, I should have read it already and that there are clinical data and trial results circulating around.
All I know about a vaccine is that it takes years to develop. It should undergo a series of trials before it can be safely rolled out. Then there's still some serious logistics to be worried about, like how can you inject a vaccine to billions of people? But of course, they better make sure that the developed world is safer first. Because the strong should always survive and evolve right?
The point of vaccine is to stop the spread of a deadly disease. So to hurry such a delicate thing can do more harm than good on a massive scale. I mean, we are getting it now. Nations are in a vax race. I am not sure anymore if we are in a hurry to cure millions of people or we are in a hurry to be deemed more powerful than ever. It's like a race to reach the space. Well of course, it's all political.
