I want to preface this by saying I believe there's a clear distinction between a genuine gift of love, support, reaching out or kindness. I do see gifts being given on here and those are such transactions that it's clear the person sending it wants to communicate a message of healing, support, encouragement or a helping hand. The key difference in my opinion between a genuine gift and a bribe is that bribes are often spams to multiple people and it's the same message over and over again. A gift is personalized. It's to an individual. A bribe is a shotgun shot across the ecosystem hoping to hit a few that will take the guilt trip or feel obliged to give back because of the min "gift of 0.001 Steem/SBD.
So my question is - does it really work? Are these people just wasting their time and money? At least from what I've seen and experienced for myself when I've been sent bribes, it hasn't been very effective. I usually just end up ignoring the message. I have no relationship with the other person, it just feels like a spam, the creator devalues their own content which subsequently leaves me with little to no interest to even click on or look at the link. And I see a lot of other people reacting in the same manner. Maybe I'm seeing isolated incidences, but let me know your opinion on it as well and if you've experienced it.
My other question is - what are alternatives? I know these people are just trying to hustle to get attention. What can they do different to actually GET attention? In my opinion, they can just build actual relationships. Network. Connect with people. It'll probably save them the time and energy and money as well as make the process of and experience of steemit so much more enriching.

I believe that success is not our final destination. I don’t believe in failure, I believe in learning from mistakes. I believe that it’s okay to be obsessed. It’s evidence of passion in your life.
