I avoid the TV like the plague, especially the news and media channels. I can't find a worse way to spend my time than lathering myself in doom, gloom and misery of others.
Nothing makes me more depressed than turning on the television and hearing about how many children were raped, how many innocents tortured and murdered or how corrupt and deranged "X" governments are.
Every time that I watch the "news", without fail I come away wishing that some alien species would fly on over, remove all of our rights and enslave the human race. At least then we won't be killing each other.
I mean what is happening in the world? Is everybody insane?
We have America "Leaders of the free world". Under the leadership of a budgie who can't count to ten and won't condemn racist actions or any other violence. Nut cases with guns mowing down innocent concert goers. Police shooting and killing innocent people for no reason. A schism in the populace regarding political views. Just to capitulate stupidity with idiocracy we now have a rise in anti-Semitic behavior, klu klux klan and neo-nazi activity and general fascism.
South america is in political turmoil with murders, corruption, brutality and now Venezuela wants to go to war with the US.
In Europe mass spread terrorism hammers Germany, France, Spain, Belgium and the UK. Anti-social behavior towards immigrants and a rise in nationalism. The UK decided to leave the European union, when the masses were asked why they voted in favor of the separation half didn't even know why they went to vote. Practically the downfall of democracy in Spain with the Catatonian referendum and police insanity.
In Africa war, racism, famine and poverty ravage the population, sexually transmitted diseases are rampant. Piracy, kidnapping and now religious unrest everywhere.
In the middle east we have daily rape, murder, terrorism, war, torture and corruption. Kids being crucified, women raped, mutilated and enslaved because of where they were born. Men having their heads sliced off with pen knives in the name of religion. The destruction of thousands of years of human heritage and culture.
The Korean peninsula crisis with a brainless spoiled brat making nuclear weapons and threatening fire and brimstone on the world, pulling Russia, China, Japan, South Korea and the US into a Sabre rattling contest.
In the Philippeanes the president has given everyone Carte Blanche to murder people in the street.
Couple all this with your local: daily psychopathic murderer, a few missing children every week, more political corruption, riots and regular rapes and you have the state of the world that we live in.
I can never understand why we are so prone to murdering, raping and inflicting pain on each other. Yet when it comes to helping each other or improving the world we live in we shy away from it.
I'm sure many of you are thinking "it's always been that way", but in my opinion racism, violence, nationalism and fascism is on the rise which bodes ill for us all. What happened to the millenia of globalization? Treat others as you wish to be treated? Feed the world? We seem to have switched it all in favor of nuclear bombs and machine guns.
As once immortalized by Rodney King "Why can't we all just get along?".
