It's easy to forget to take a moment to celebrate small milestones - and big events.
We all have them. Significant, or even seemingly insignificant milestones on life's journey.
Birthdays are a prime example. So too, finishing significant achievements - or portions of them: a good mark in an assignment. Finishing a semester at uni. Finishing a uni degree. Sporting events - your footy team wins a game or the season.
Or you all managed to turn up to the game on the right day.
Life is made up of endless moments of business as usual. We get up. We work. We play. We love. We laugh and cry. We take comfort where we can with friends and family.
It's so easy for life to just pass us by, letting routine win the day. Eat. Sleep. Work. Sleep eat work eat sleep eat.
Too easy.
Truth be told I'm pretty bad at celebrating others' milestones. So I remind myself when I remember to, to make a big deal about things every now and then.
For me, and for others.
Because it's the little things which, when put together, make up our lives and define us as people.
