It's incredible to think about a pet cat living for a quarter of a century without suffering from any serious medical problems, and a cat living into its thirties seems like a tall tale considering they only live for about five years in the wild.
But the cats who have broken the world records for age are proving cats can have more than nine lives- and might someday reach the ripe old age of 40.
The nonplussed cat in these pics is named Nutmeg, and his owners Liz and Ian Finlay claim he's 31 years old, which would make him the world's oldest living cat since the previous record holder Scooter died in 2016 at age 30.
