So long story short, a good friend of mine asked me to make him a folding knife he could give to his only male son, when he comes of age (16 or 18) and i told him ill do it :D feel quite happy that he preferred to get one from me than to just buy a cheap opinel and call it a day :D if all goes well this knife will be passed down for generations :D
he left to me all the choices as he just wanted a uk legal folding knife and the blade had to pattern welded steel.
Easy peasy lemon..i failed at the first attempt :(
you need to know that i do mainly fixed blades (hunting and now kitchen knives) so all this mumbo jumbo with folders is new to me. ohh well after a year of self reflection and brainstorming i put this one together
the system is based on friction, so stays closed and open on the friction applied by a screw and the titanium liners
the blade is 7cm long and made out of pattern welded steel i forged myself steels used 15n20-O2-1070
overall length is 17 cm
handle is made of locally sourced curly maple that i dyed with some...die xD
the spacer is in vintage micarta and the liners as said are out of titanium to keep everything light as possible
i also burnished the blades with heat and oil to give it a cleaner look and keep it under the same tones
Hope you like this type of content :)
