Having chosen to leave a steady (low paying) job and relying solely on the cryptocurrencies makes my parents concerned about my wellbeing, even though I have been doing this for a while now.
Mom worries about me, a lot. She asks how I’m doing financially because she hears cryptos are down. I keep telling her that I’m doing much better than I would in the kitchen. It’s a volatile market but I got the balls to survive the rollercoaster.
Mom is the one who listens to radio and reads the newspapers, so she is bombarded with alternative facts about cryptocurrencies. The mass media likes to paint it out like everyone in crypto is a criminal and it’s all just drug money and everyone innocent will get scammed.
Well I don’t actually care if/when there is money laundering and all that, I really don’t. There are just as many crooks in the traditional banking system. So let’s just get over that part and concentrate on what matters.
I need to keep saying to my mom that I’m not one of those idiots who takes out a loan and puts her faith in a random shitcoin. And I have told her numerous of times that I have taken out a lot more than I have put in. Sure, my time is also valuable, but it’s harder to measure. But every day I earn a little more cryptos, depending on the markets and how hard I work.
Daddy I’m okay
Dad reads the news too, but he is more critical about the information given in the media and he questions it a lot more than mom does. He has been fighting agains propaganda and lies in his own line of work, so he knows that you don’t just believe everything you read on the goverment owned newspaper.
Dad is somewhat curious about the freedom cryptocurrencies provide, and he sees that I’m more happy because I don’t have to comform to the restarains a normal workplace holds. I think me and dad are very similar in a way that we like to work alone and know that if you want something done right, you need to do it yourself. We also don’t like to compromise when we are passionate about something and know what we want to do.
I never tell my parents exact numbers, but when everything was a little higher, I said that I had almost a years wages worth of money in crypto. Which might sounds like a lot, but I was doing a minimun wage job. It might also sound scary, being dependant on crypto, but I always compare this situation to my previous life, and this is better. Even when we are in a bear market, I have more freedom than ever before. I might not be making much on a daily basis right now, but I have my ass covered (only figuratively ofc) and I’ll be fine for a while longer.
The bottom line: cryptocurrencies have improved my quality of life immensely.
Simple as that.
