It’s common knowledge already that in life, shit happens. By shit, I mean unpalatable situations that none of us will willingly sign up for. These things hit us from every angle possible and have no respect for what our current situation might be. I mean, you could be going through hell and something nasty will happen on top of that. It’s crazy but it’s the reality of life. Well, at least, it’s what I’ve come to accept as the reality of life.
Now, there’s also a side to all these crazy that tends to come for the things we hold dear. They make you question your decisions and you begin to wonder if you’re indeed on the right track or if you’re just being silly. It’s easy to say you ought to let go of whatever isn’t working right but how do you know if you’re supposed to jump ship or weather the storm?
If only you could see the future.
Everything is easier in hindsight. It’s easier to watch and enjoy a football match when you already know the outcome. It’d be a lot easier to let go of stuff if you could see that you didn’t really need it in the future. On the flip side, it would also be easier to hang on and weather the storm if you could see that it’ll all be worth it at the end.
But life isn’t like that. We don’t get to take a sneak peek into the future. When it comes down to it, you really have just one shot at it! So how do you decide what it’s going to be? How do you choose either to hold on or let go?
Personally, I believe it’s down to how much you want it. Now, I’m not saying you’ll always make the right decision but it feels much better when you have the courage to own your decisions and deal with the repercussions of your actions.
If you want it so bad, hang in there till you can hang in no more! And if you still end up losing it despite hanging on for ever, then you’d be rest assured you gave it your all. It won’t necessarily hurt you less tho.
It super crazy trying to swim against the tide but it seems every story of triumph has one or two episodes where there was a raging storm or an obstacle that needed to be overcome. Any attempt to avoid or turn away from those obstacles might have very well prevented those stories from turning out the way they did.
