- DOGS IN NEED -
It's not even close to be over...
25 days ago I decided to start this amazing idea that was flying in my head for several years. I wanted to make an impact on something I love, something that was a real problem in my local area. I had this in mind for a couple of years as I said before, but I didn't have the exact idea about how to make something worthy, until appeared and lighted my bulb. But this was not all about me, or the project itself, it's not even just about the dogs, this is everything and every moment had it's own present to everyone involved.
New perspective...
I started this project thinking about helping the dogs, those poor left aside animals living in some kind of prison because of us, because of our lack of responsibility. We are the ones to blame in this huge huge problem we are living, even most of the people doesn't even stop a second to realize what is happening. Since 2012 I've been involved with the local shelter and trying to help in some different ways. I remember collecting money selling collaborative tickets to raise found and buy food, I also remember painting and repairing a couple of dogs houses. But the most fun and the most wonderful time I remember about thistle spent was the time with the dogs, how they receive you and how much love they are always offering you, like they are trying to say "thank you" all the time. I remember how that fulfilled my soul like nothing else in life, doing something for them, and just spending time petting them and playing some ball was just the best thing in life for me.
So much more than just 4 houses...
As I said before this was just my plan to help the shelter, I wrote it down, I made some research to contact to the stores and ask some prices for material and I presented as my first project. Since it was accepted I was supper excited and willing to make everything to make this work in the best possible way.So it was time to work, I had all the tools and a big place to work, I even had some help from my dad, a person that was always there for support and to help me with everything I need, adding that that he loves dogs and he was a carpenter ad it sounded like the perfect working team, and having the chance to spend time with my dad was great.
Therapy moment...
Besides all the hard work, mixed with happiness, excitement, and even some frustrating moments due to weather conditions, this has been the most amazing therapy to me. Working with wood has been one of the most beautiful material to work with, but besides of that, working for a really amazing cause, and with my dad it makes my soul feel kinda floating in a feeling of peace. The painting part was even more therapeutic, not only because painting is such a therapy itself, it's just the feeling of getting closer to end the project, and the mix of feeling starts to appear. I wanted to end this so bad to give this houses to the little furry fellows, I wanted to end this project to feel proud about the work and time that has been putted into it, but the hardest part is to left behind this lovely routine and this amazing project.
The real update...
Enough of how much fun this project is, and how happy it makes me feel, this is the real update of how it's going. We are still in the heavy weather season here, it's still raining, winds are around 40 mph and it's impossible to get outside and finish the second hand of paint in every houses. On the other hand I'm planning to add some pink hearts on the front of the houses in honor to and how they have made this possible. I'm gonna try to make them from wood, or in the worst case I will be doing some stencils to at least printed them on each house. I already contacted a lot of people to take the houses to the shelter, I couldn't get someone with a truck or a pickup truck willing to do the favor, so I talked to a guy that charges me only 30 bucks to make two trips to the shelter with two houses on each one. So besides of the problems and the weather, even besides of my mixed feeling because this is getting closer to the end, I know this is an amazing moment, and a great accomplish for me.
It's all about real people...
Thanks so much to this amazing people thinking on how to make a better world, and together is the real answer. Thanks , thanks
