The Candles Are Lit......Chag Sameach Chanukkah

The sun has set and last night began eight days of celebration. This is a time of remembrance of the miracle of the oil at the time of the re-dedication of the temple. Today we continue to remember this First Day. Last night we had lakes with sour cream or applesauce, challah, mushroom raviolis cooked in wine sauce, and a chefs salad. Desert was Jelly donuts. We lit the first candle, dimmed the light and had a candle lit dinner. After dinner we read the story of that time so long ago. Children each did get a small gift.
