tho I think it's still not ideal. if we were to draw up a plan from scratch, I don't think we'd think of self-driving cars. like, little carts attached to the ground or to the side walls or something that slide along down the streets seems like essentially the same thing, and a lot cheaper and you could probably make it super green. (you can even power it by peddling, and people can work as peddlers and they collect the fees.)
so imo it's in the right direction and better across the board and pretty much gets rid of all the big problems, but I'd expect it's palatable to entrenched interests like oil and car manufacturers more than it's the end game ideal way to do it.
thanks for asking! great question. they seem to be getting closer to a reality from what I understand. seems like a solid stepping stone in the right direction.
