Today, on March 8, most of the world celebrates the International Women's Day. Women's day originally was celebrated as a reminder of women's constant struggle for equality and recognition. Here, in Europe, we have made some progress on that and can rest on some laurels, while also using the International Women's Day to praise the beauty and femininity of women :)
Unfortunately, not all countries have made it this far. In many coutries, women struggle every day to get same kind of treatment and acknowledgement as men, hence Women's Day is used as a way to draw attention to these problems.
But back to Europe! What nice and wacky things do people do here? In the recent years, the police in Lithuania has cultivated a nice tradition. On Women's Day, they hit the streets and pull over cars driven by women, but instead of checking their documents or giving them tickets, they give them tulips to celebrate the event.
According to the women, these encounters have left them baffled and positively surpised, some even in tears of joy. Spreading the love around works wonders and Lithuanian police are doing a fine job at it.
Time to dig this one out again - do you remember a website called "Send Crypto People Tulips"? The site was intended as a joke, when Bitcoin started it's massive ascent.
For $5 you could send tulips, to your crypto friends, if the bubble bursted - and feel smug about it. Unfortunately, the bubble is far from bursting, a small pullback here and there and money to be made on both sides :)
Although, it appears, the actual sending of tulips has been taken offline for privacy reasons, so nothing else for you to do than to head to your local florist and a grab some tulips for the women in your circles.
