This is a short video to the picture, where a pitcher plant (Sarracenia) at my balcony is catching a wasp.
[German] Ein kurzes Video zu dem Bild, wo eine Schlauchpflanze auf meinem Balkon eine Wespe fängt.
The pitcher plant (Sarracenia) always catches larger insects such as flies and even wasps, which fall into the long hoses and then they can´t get out because of the smooth interior of the hoses and they are digested by the plant. The insects are attracted by a secretion in the inside of the hoses and they often fall upside down in the hoses because of their interest.
[German] Bei der Schlauchpflanze (Sarracenia) fallen in die langen Schläuche immer mal größere Insekten wie Fliegen und sogar Wespen, die dann durch den glatten Innenraum der Schläuche nicht mehr raus kommen und von der Pflanze verdaut werden. Durch ein Sekret im inneren der Schläuche werden die Insekten angelockt und sie fallen oft kopfüber aus Interesse in die Schläuche.
