October 12th is Columbus' Day even though in the US it will be celebrated tomorrow. But did Columbus discover America? I guess in and of itself this is a stupid question, being that when Columbus got to the American continent people had been living here for thousands of years so what did he discover?
He wasn't even the first European here as remains seem to prove that the vikings were here hundreds of years before Columbus, the Knights Templars also are suspected of having reached the continent long before Columbus, and thousands of years before Columbus the Phoenicians also are said to have come here.
According to many historians Columbus actually had maps and he knew exactly where he was going, which seems to prove somebody had already sailed to America, but the official history is that he set out based on a belief that the world was round and that he would reach Asia by going west, but as you know history is written by the winners, in this case I don't know who the winners are but somehow it was to their convenience to exalt Columbus as the Discoverer.
Anyway the man has his special day and I don't think anything can be done about that, even though it appears some Antifa movements don't agree with that at all. But in the rest of the American continent apparently no one feels bad about Columbus having his day.
So I hope those who have their holiday tomorrow have a great day.
