Do you realize we all think in pictures?
All you have to do to verify this is to think of a word and BAM! A picture of it is immediately in your brain. Depending on the word your body can actually react to it. Sometimes it is can be big reaction, other times small, but there is both the mental and then the physical reaction.
Let's do a little exercise right now.
Think of your mother.
Your grandmother.
Your best friend.
Your first pet.
I am willing to bet that you had an image come to mind so fast that you couldn't stop it!Your subconscious mind works so fast, like a rocket in flight. Bam! You just had a picture of a rocket didn't you?
You have no chance of stopping these images being pulled from your subconscious mind and placed into your “mind's eye.” These images can happen so quick that you don't even know you had a thought at all!
Of course I (hopefully) have written words that bring happy images to mind. Maybe you even had a smile after those images popped into your brain. That would be the physical reaction.
If I list some bad things, you might even get a bit of negative emotions from only the image of it.
Your Ex-boyfriend or girlfriend.
That embarrassing thing that happened to you from years ago.
Taxes.
When a pet died.
Oh, I better stop now. Thinking about these things isn't so nice for me either.
You get the point though. If you didn't want that picture in your mind, too bad. It was there first and you had to concentrate to remove it.
These pictures are all part of your internal programming. Your thought program.
It works both ways - positive and negative. If you have been programmed to picture the negative, then you will find your life taken over by it. So I hope your pictures are positive.
Ok, I want to put one more image into your head and I want you to be honest with yourself about it.
MONEY
What did you picture? Was it an empty wallet? A number? Scrooge McDuck jumping into his money pool?
Now how do you feel about money?
“I don't have enough.”
“I need more of it.”
“I wish I was rich.”
“Money is everywhere.”
Whatever your thought about a topic, you will start to draw it to you. You will create your life based off the thoughts you have programmed inside of you. Luckily, if you have realized that you don't like your programming it can be changed.
I learned this from the book “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. If you have never read this book, I suggest you do. It's a classic. Probably the first “self-help” book ever.
The first line of the book is this: Truly, "thoughts are things," and powerful things at that, when they are mixed with definiteness of purpose, persistence, and a burning desire for their translation into riches, or other material objects."
Thoughts are the first step toward a better life. Thoughts are images. Images are programmed.
But you can change the programming. Change the programming to change the image. Change the image, change the thought. Change your thoughts, change your life.
So if you aren't living the life you want, figure out the image you need to change.
To find the image, just think of the word and see what comes into focus. This image is what your programming states as your goal. If you don't like it, now you have a starting point to grow from.
The subconscious mind is an amazing machine. It can be extremely amazing when you know what buttons and levers to press.
