Have you ever heard the song "My way" from Frank Sinatra? Please listen to the song, then you will know exactly what I am talking about. This song has a very special place in my heart. Firstly because I loved Frank Sinatra, and secondly because this is such an honest song. This song totally describes the way that we should live our lives. Life is terribly short, and we never know what could happen to change our lives forever.
A colleague of mine has a very dear friend, currently in hospital fighting for her life. They have been friends for nearly thirty years. Her friend went in for a very small operation to remove a small mass in her stomach. During the operation, they discovered a bigger mass in her stomach which they tried to remove....she started bleeding and they couldn't stop the bleeding. They decided to call it quits and stopped the operation. She has been in a coma ever since. Everyone is devastated.
When a tragedy like this happens, it always makes me think about my own life and these questions spin around in my head.
Do I show my feelings enough?
Do I spend enough time with family and friends?
Do I listen when people speak to me?
Do I live my life the way it was intended to live?
Life is meant for living. Don't allow work, or anything else to get in your way. Remember to always be yourself, and follow advice, but don't change because people want you to change. Make sure that you travel each and every highway...and make sure that you have no regrets in life. Do what you can WHILE you still have the opportunity, but don't take on too much.
Do things your way, but make sure you are remembered forever.
For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels;
And not the words of one who kneels.
The record shows I took the blows -
And did it my way!
