2018 has arrived, and seems to have all the credentials to be an epoch-making year for most of the fields of human knowledge. The perspectives seem to be exciting. All this will challenge the very nature of the human being.
This last year brings with it important breakthroughs in the fields of genetic engineering, in medicine, space travel and artificial intelligence. Tomorrow we will have to confront and collaborate with machines whose intelligences far surpass the human one or which work can replace most of human activities.
The international debate has already moved on the themes of human-machine interaction. however, it is necessary to create more education on these issues. Many people I know do not have the slightest idea of ββthe actual state of technology advancement. As Raymond Kurzweil would say, many people still have a linear-intuitive perspective, which leads them to think that future developments will come almost on a calendar basis. An exponential-historical vision would give the opportunity to understand how the acceleration of technological development will be ever greater.
According to my personal point of view, this could create a big gap between those who know how to juggle with technology and who do not.
Would you need more education? Surely yes, but from whom? If you wait until the institutions reach the pace of big tech companies it may perhaps be too late.
We must start being ourselves the vehicle of this education on these issues. Starting from family and friends. The more we talk about it the more we will become aware of what we really want and then try to shape with our own contribute this future that awaits, helping others to do it as well.
What will really await us? It is not known with certainty. What is certain is that we will see some beautiful and exiting things !
In any case, I wish everyone a happy new year. That can bring you new incentives and things for which to smile. See you soon βοΈπ
