Shaving is a massive business in the west because generally speaking we are simply hairier by genetics than a vast majority of Asians. There was a Thai fella in his late 20's that I worked with and he would turn up to work with a chin that looked like he had a professional shave just moments before turning up for work. One day, when i was running late i turned up for work with a "5 o'clock shadow" and he pointed it out to me. He wasn't making fun of me, he was jealous. He told me that he never shaves, he just doesn't grow facial hair. Everyone wants what they can't have.
The controversy surrounding Gillette's latest ad called "We Believe: The Best a Man can be" has garnered a lot of attention because it appears to join the SJW tirade against toxic masculinity, whatever that means. Basically it was a razor blade company lecturing us on how we are supposed to behave. It currently has nearly twice as many dislikes as it does likes. It says various things such as how we are not supposed to objectify women and stuff like that and well, that is all find and dandy but!

yes, the misused apostrophe bothers me too
Just a little hypocritical of them to try and do that to their consumers.
So there was some sort of movement to boycott Gillette and I have to say that this simply isn't possible for me, not that I would anyway. I think it was a bad idea for them to try to virtue signal about this because there are a lot of people out there that actually WILL boycott their stuff and I would imagine someone in the board room is going to get in trouble for green-lighting this thing. However, there is also a school of thought out there that says that "any publicity is good publicity" and now people who haven't thought about Gillette in a long time now have it in their memories. I mean, people need razors and it isn't a situation like athletic shoes where there are a million choices - especially for people like me who have an extremely limited choice of what to get.
In case you missed it here is the video in question
My razor decisions will be made by the same standards they have always been made: Who has a triple blade or higher at the lowest cost.... and that's it! I will not allow politics to be a factor in my personal grooming habits. Plus I don't know if you noticed but these blades are like $5 each... i'm not going to try to make some grand statement by throwing $20 in the trash - that's beer money.
