Today's article will not be about Spain, but about Hungary. Why? If anyone does not know, my husband is a Hungarian, and although I did not live long in his country, because we constantly worked somewhere on contracts, nevertheless, during that time I saw and learned sometimes strange, sometimes ridiculous customs and habits of Hungarians. This is not some huge cultural differences, but rather, household nuances. Prepare to be surprised!
NUMBERS ON FINGERS
I do not know why, but when the incident occurred, and I showed my husband "3" on my fingers, he burst into laughter. The difference in the transmission of the first three digits is obvious. See:
The train of thought of Hungarians is this: the unit should be shown with a thumb, because it is extreme. Well, it's logical. Can not argue. Next to the large adjoins the neighboring index, respectively, to represent the "three", the company the first two is the middle finger.
By the way, the Germans show 1-2-3 as well as the Hungarians.
We have a different way. What is the explanation for this? The answer is unknown to me, but I know that the Spaniards are doing the same.
GREETING
Hungarians say hello everywhere and always, and several times a day. If a member of the family went to the store and returned in 10 minutes, you must say hello. Naturally, I had no idea about this rule at first, so I just smiled sweetly when my husband's father came back after a short absence and said "Hello." For me, this behavior was not a manifestation of bad manners, but for the husband just the opposite. Our long debates about this have led to the fact that I still do not quite see the great sense of greeting during the day on several occasions, but I do it, because "they do not go to their own convent with their charter."
It is interesting that "Hi" and "Poka" in Hungarian sound the same: "Sio" (with the greeting of one person) and "Siostok" (with a greeting of two or more).
TEA
For Ukrainians and Russians, tea is a special tradition, because it means absorbing not just a drink, but some kind of yummy. How can you drink tea without a single pechenyushki or "Napoleon"? Or vice versa - how can you eat a piece of cake without drinking tea? It turns out, you can. When Hungarians drink tea or eat dessert, then these two things do not fit together. In truth, they rarely drink tea.
I already talked about someone else's monastery, but for tea I made an exception. Even when we have a feast in Hungary and the time comes dessert, I go to the kitchen for a fragrant lime tea. My Hungarian relatives no longer pay attention to this.
CULINARY INDUSTRY
I never imagined that officially there is such a dish as pasta with potatoes! Hungarians cook it with a roast of onions and tomatoes. The taste is nothing special, but I refrain from this food, because of the mixing of starch with gluten, I'm not thrilled.
AND NOW GOES TO THE BOARD ...
In Hungarian schools, children pull their hands, folding their fingers like a white brotherhood did, connecting the forefinger and the middle finger. Yes, an extraordinary gesture, but our "hands" also seem strange to the Hungarians, since, in their opinion, the elbow support of the fingers of the second hand looks rather ridiculous.

EYES TO EYES
This is how you can not clink glasses with raised glasses. And may there be something to overturn or pour out, it does not matter. It is important to look into the eyes of those with whom your glasses touch. To "drinking companion" was sure that they are looking at him, Hungarians open their eyes wide for the sake of fidelity and do not blink until the process is going on. From the side it looks comical, but in fact - it's fun.
DAY OF THE NAME
The Hungarians have two important personal feasts - a birthday and a name day, which is almost as important as the first in importance. This is something akin to the day of the angel according to our ideas, only with gifts, albeit non-racy ones. Sometimes they even set a table about this.
NATIONAL MEANS OF TREATMENT
When a Ukrainian has problems with the intestines, or rather, he is "upset", the Ukrainian eats unsalted rice. When such a problem overtakes the Hungarian, the Hungarian eats boiled and very salty potatoes. And after the potato, he drinks the very salt liquid in which he was preparing.
The effect of potatoes is no better than rice, as for me, but I was not able to convince my husband to eat rice.
With a cold here sniff grated horseradish. Pre-it rubbed into a jar, close it and from time to time bring to the nose. What can I say, my eyes water, you want to cry, and immediately forget about the common cold :)
ACQUAINTANCE
Introducing themselves, Hungarians call their name and surname (in this order!), Despite the format of the meeting - official or friendly. I often just said that I'm Julia, forgetting about the name. Foreigners are forgiven much.
