Today, I went to a "Being a Happier You" course. I love attending these courses, not necessarily for their content (as I have been doing various ones for over a year now), but for the people, I meet.
I've met a whole range of people, there are some energy suckers for sure, but for the most part, I have been lucky enough to meet some wonderful people that I have come to call friends.
After 10 years of being 'caged', it is great to fly and become more sociable. My conversational skills (and shyness) is slowly, but surely improving, as I take steps outside my comfort zone. And I am finally beginning to think and feel that I have something to offer to other people.
Today I meet this great lady from Glasgow, she was so awesome, she is a livewire who is also an empath. She likes to talk, so will have fun getting to know her and she has an opinion on everything, but very intelligent and she challenges the 'norm' of what people think. I am going to get on with her.
She kept coming up with coming cracking advice and one-liners, like.
Thoughts are like waves, so pick the right ones to surf
That line is profound and the answer to many of life's problems.
I am going to have to design some art around it, or write a poem - it inspires me. Or both, That is churning and mulling in my head as I type, expect something amazing very soon :)
So the topic today was what makes you happy.
I'm glad none of us said money. We agreed money was necessary to survive and helps alleviate worry, but it doesn't bring happiness.
So as a group came up as a group with things like gratitude, purpose, finding joy in simple things and laughter and sharing laughter (those last two were my suggestions).
And we also got shown this amazing acronym from Action for happiness:
GREAT DREAMS: it basically shows that it is not just one thing that makes you happy, but a number of things you must do and that they are all interrelated.
Lastly, we created some goals for this year. Mine were:
- Be debt free by April 2018
- Learn to drive within 18 months, once I get started with it.
- To tidy the flat and maintain the tidiness by decluttering
- To become more socially confident
- To save up for experiences rather than things (I have my eye on an indoor skydiving experience for me and kids)
Remember guys and gals
