Was the alert we received on our phones 4 days after our city was already aware that the citizens had been consuming toxic water.
This is all so surreal. I live in a regular American city with everyday resources available, but today things changed throughout the city and human behavior became sickening as soon as all the bottled wattle emptied the shelves of the grocery stores. Gas stations started charging $45 per bottle of water. I have a friend from another city who lives off of another water supply offer for me to fill some jugs until this situation is resolved. It blows my mind that there are so many people who live their lives like this, always.
Being in a situation like this really makes you appreciate parts of life that you never really think about. It’s really eye opening how quickly everything can change. Businesses that require water supply have closed their doors which means income has stopped for those businesses and all the employees they provide jobs for. To be without water and income all of a sudden is devastating for many families.
