Being unemployed sucks. Especially if you are in a third world country like mine, the Philippines.
But that statement can be argued. Life is easy if you come from a well-off family. You can choose to not work for months at a time without really experiencing the consequences unlike most of the country's population, who cannot afford to be without a job. Unemployment often branches out to different problems. It may lead to financial problems. Financial problems can cause personal/relationship problems and from there, it may lead to a whole lot of other ones. You can say that unemployment is the root of most evils here in the Philippines. I listed several factors that I believe causes unemployment in this country.
Education
Majority of the unemployed in the Philippines are people who did not finish their education or are illiterate.Experience
Most companies demand unreasonable requirements for jobs. 1-2 years experience for an entry-level job?! Hahahahaha wth.Too many graduates
The ratio of graduates to job vacancies is highly unbalanced.Discrimination(?)
Some companies prefer graduates from major schools in the Philippines.
Unemployment directly relates to poverty here in the Philippines. To avoid that, unemployed people take risks like flying to a different country to explore uncertain opportunities, falling victim to pyramid scams, etc. Which is just sad.
Filipinos are generally optimistic. We can only hope and pray that long-standing problem will get better eventually.
