He woke her up, steaming cup of coffee in hand
The curtains pulled back, light streaming in
Hurting her eyes
It’s Saturday
The sun setting
She wanted to lay in tangled seas of fresh sheets
This is what regular people do
She wanted it too
But only dead fishes go with the flow
He said
She woke up
Hair a mess, eyes still red
He turned his back
Sat on the chair
Pounded on the typewriter
This is their life
Five years of going nowhere
and everywhere
Swapping sunrises for sunsets
Fresh paper in, stained with ribbon ink
Crumpled papers on the floor
From yesterday’s work
Crumpled hopes on the corner of the room
Broken dreams in the bin
Some more new sheets on the desk
Old dreams, new hopes
She looked at him endearingly
And as the sun paint streaks on his face
She starts typing on her fresh batch of paper
“I still believe in unicorns…”
