Hey Steemians,
Happy day before the 4th of July. I figured that I'd take today and share an article that I read earlier today announcing that a Canadian baby has become the first in the world without a gender designation on their health card. One of the child's parents, Kori Doty, who identifies as neither male nor female, has decided to let the child decide what they would like to be (from a gender perspective) when they grown up. Kori said 'a visual inspection at birth is not capable of determining a person's gender'.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on the topic but what boggles my mind, more than the actual article itself, are the brutal comments that people have down in the comments section of the article.
You literally have everything from:
what a bunch of mutants. They shouldn't be allowed to reproduce
to
Some people here should be disgusted with themselves who are you to judge anyone for whether they want to be male or female. You're the ones that are wrong with this world not those who choose to live differently or be something unique.
In this day in age, where there is so much protest going on about equal rights, why should it still be a surprise when someone wants to identify their child as 'unknown' from a gender standpoint. There are so many other things to be 'worried' about in this world that having to bash this family for a decision that they felt like making, just seems counterproductive. Regardless, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, good or bad.
What are your thoughts?
