Whenever you're obsessed with earning more and more money, or owning better car then anyone you know, or moving to a bigger, comfier house, or run after a pretty girl after another pretty girl, remember that what you, or its actually what everyone of us really want is being "happy".
The problem is that we trick ourselves to believe that happiness has anything to do with wealth, power or popularity, while in fact it does not.
We envy someone who has more wealth and think that we would be happy if have just as much, or we jealous to someone who married the prettiest girl and convinced ourselves that we would be happier of we can get a prettier girl. But it will not make us any happier for a long term.
Happiness is a state of mind, its merely a concept of how well we think we are. There are only two ingredients for happiness, and I would share them with you, its patient and gratitude.
Be patient with what you are lacking and be grateful with what you have. When you finally make peace with yourself, accepting yourself completely and stop comparing yourself with others, at that moment you will found Happiness.
